The Big God Can Be Belittled

Have you ever thought about how small God looks to you? Don’t rush to answer. Because if you look closely at your life; your fears, your prayers, your expectations, you might discover something shocking: the size of your God is not determined by who He is… but by where you stand.

Let me tell you a story.

The Child, The Father, and The Plane

A child once stood outside with his father when an airplane flew overhead. Excitedly, he pointed up and shouted:

“Daddy, look! An airplane! It’s so small!”

The father smiled, took his hand, and led him to the airport.

When they finally stood next to the giant aircraft, the boy froze. His mouth opened, eyes wide, unable to reconcile what he was seeing.

“Daddy… this plane is HUGE!”

The father knelt and whispered:

“Son, the plane didn’t change size. Your distance changed.

God Hasn’t Shrunk. You Have Stepped Back.

This is where so many believers live. We belittle God not because He is small, but because we are standing too far away.

From a distance, He looks powerless against your problems. From a distance, His promises sound like fairy tales. From a distance, faith feels impossible.

And yet, the Creator of the heavens and the earth hasn’t changed.

“Jesus Christ is the same yesterday, today, and forever.” (Hebrews 13:8)

The problem is not the size of God, it’s the distance of your heart.

When Circumstances Become Bigger Than God

Be honest:

  • How often do you panic when bills pile up?
  • How many sleepless nights have you spent worrying about the future?
  • How often have you prayed small, “safe” prayers because you’re afraid God might not show up?

That’s what happens when life’s problems look closer than God. It’s like standing far from the airplane while standing directly near a long truck, the truck looks massive, the plane looks tiny. But if you change your position, the truth is revealed.

Your situation only looks bigger because your perspective has drifted.

Faith Brings God Closer

Smith Wigglesworth once said,

“I’m not moved by what I see. I’m moved only by what I believe.”

That’s the heartbeat of faith: bringing God so close that His reality eclipses everything else.

The closer you are to Him:

  • The smaller fear looks.
  • The smaller sickness looks.
  • The smaller failure looks.
  • The powerless devil is.

Faith magnifies God. It doesn’t make Him bigger than He already is, but it brings you close enough to see how big He has been all along.

When Believers Make God Look Small

Sometimes, without realizing it, we reduce God:

  • We pray timidly, as if He’s reluctant to bless us.
  • We quote verses but secretly doubt they work for us.
  • We worship with our lips but hold back our hearts.
  • We ignore God’s word and sin in secret.

And then we wonder why we live powerless Christian lives.

Listen carefully: Your God will only be as big in your life as you allow Him to be.

When your faith is small, God looks small. When your prayers are small, your testimonies are small. When your hunger is small, your encounters are small.

But the moment you step closer, when intimacy becomes your priority, everything changes.

God Hasn’t Shrunk. You Have Stepped Back.

Step Into the Airport

Right now, God is calling you out of distant Christianity. He’s saying:

“Come closer. Stop watching Me from afar. Step into the airport.”

Prayer is not a religious duty; it’s the gate of intimacy. Worship is not a song; it’s stepping closer to His presence. Faith is not wishing; it’s seeing Him as He really is.

When you start living close to Him, you stop belittling Him without realizing it.

What Happens When You See God as He Really Is

When Isaiah saw the Lord high and lifted up, he cried:

“Woe is me! I am undone!” (Isaiah 6:5)

When Job finally encountered God, he said:

“I had only heard about You before, but now I have seen You with my own eyes.” (Job 42:5)

Every revival begins when God gets bigger in your heart than He has ever been. And that starts today.

Stop Living With a Small God

Right now, I need you to ask yourself:

“Have I made God small in my life?”

  • Have you limited Him by fear?
  • Have you reduced Him to Sunday mornings?
  • Have you stopped expecting Him to move powerfully in your generation?

If so, today is your airport moment.

A Call to Radical Faith

You are not reading this by accident. God is calling you deeper. He wants to stretch your faith, enlarge your vision, and awaken your hunger.

The God who split the Red Sea is your God. The God who raised Lazarus is your God. The God who shut the mouths of lions and brought down Jericho’s walls is your God.

Stop living as though He’s small. Step closer. Believe again.

Radical Prayer

Father, I repent for every way I have belittled You.
Forgive me for making my fears, my past, my failures, and my circumstances bigger than You.
Today, I step closer. I draw near to You.
Enlarge my faith, Lord.
Awaken holy hunger in me.
Open my eyes to see You as You really are — limitless, unstoppable, mighty to save.
From today, I refuse to pray small prayers.
I refuse to live in sin and weakness.
Lord, show Yourself strong in my generation… and let it start with me.
In Jesus’ name, Amen!

Final Word

Beloved, the size of your God has never changed. But the distance of your heart can make Him look small.
Today, step closer. See Him as He really is. And once you do, nothing, absolutely nothing, will ever look the same again.
