Uncovering the Truths About Sin: Insights You Can’t Afford to Miss

Know about sin : handcuffed hands

“Too many think lightly of sin, and therefore think lightly of the Savior.”

Charles Spurgeon

There is something very crucial we must keep in our mind about sin.

During the COVID-19 period, the hearts of men were filled with tremendous fear because of the rate of spread and lethality of the coronavirus. Handshaking ceased, social distancing was introduced, handwashing became mandatory, and the use of nose masks became part of human outfits. Businesses ceased. Men hid. Cities, states, and nations were locked down.

All of this was done to halt the spread of this virus. The government did everything possible to manage this challenge, which was admirable. As a result, they advised everyone to stay safe. “Stay safe!” during those times became a catchphrase for pleasantries.

In this article, I would like to write briefly about the most lethal and neglected “Spirito-organism” which does not only affect the body but also the soul.

Uncovering the Truths About Sin

“Sin is never at a stay; if we do not retreat from it, we shall advance in it; and the farther on we go, the more we have to come back.”

Isaac Barrow

I would like to share just this verse with you

Exodus 12:19 (KJV) Seven days shall there be no leaven found in your houses: for whosoever eateth that which is leavened, even that soul shall be cut off from the congregation of Israel, whether he be a stranger, or born in the land.

Let us take a lesson from this verse. This verse did not mention the word sin, but something about the nature of the instruction given to them piqued my interest. Rather than not having leaven in their homes, they should have been instructed not to eat it.

The scripture is given for reproof, corrections, learning, etc.

In this post, I will compare this leaven to sin.

Galatians 5:9 A little leaven leaveneth the whole lump.

No matter how small, inconspicuous, and hidden it might appear to be, sin leavens the whole lump, i.e., corrupts the whole person and makes the individual unacceptable before God.

“We have to recognize that sin is a fact, not a defect; sin is red-handed mutiny against God. Either God or sin must die in my life… If sin rules in me, God’s life in me will be killed; if God rules in me, sin in me will be killed.”

Oswald Chambers

You must not play or joke with sin because;

  • It is enticing.
  • Though lethal, it’s always packaged like a gift, with the foil of pleasure and profit.
  • Sin is labeled with the irresistible, convincing, and reasonable reasons why you should, ought, or must commit it.
  • It is endowed with an irresistible fragrance.
  • Designed by the most subtle creature, to take advantage of the weaknesses of men.
  • It’s more than cancerous in nature, as it captivates the whole being and destroys both the body and the soul.

Therefore, nothing capable of luring one into sinning should be nurtured in one’s heart. We are instructed to guard our hearts with all diligence.

“To pretend to trust Christ to save you from sin while you are still determined to continue in it is making a mockery of Christ.”

Charles Spurgeon

Having been redeemed by the precious blood of him, through whom all things were made, we are not to trivialize the cost of our redemption by going back to the same thing we were saved from. 1 John 3:8

To illustrate the seriousness of the matter, Jesus figuratively said that if your hand causes you to sin, you should amputate it, or else, you will be cut off from the congregation of the saints.

Matthew 18:8 And if your hand or your foot causes you to stumble and sin, cut it off and throw it away from you; it is better (more profitable and wholesome) for you to enter life maimed or lame than to have two hands or two feet and be thrown into everlasting fire. (AMP)

It’s no surprise that the Bible says that blessed is the man who does not walk, stand, or sit…, who doesn’t give the devil chances at all, and who has no time for his enticing commodities.

Please, my brethren, embrace Jesus today. Avoid sin and denounce the devil. The most important thing to understand about sin is that avoiding sin is the best way to stay safe.

Stay safe!
