What Is a Bible Reading Plan?

A Bible reading plan is a simple guide that tells you what portion of Scripture to read each day. Instead of opening the Bible and wondering where to begin, a plan gives you a clear path so that you can read consistently and cover the ground you want to cover.

Plans range from reading the whole Bible in one year to working through a single book like John or Proverbs in just a few weeks. The right plan depends on your season, your pace, and your goal.

How to Choose a Bible Reading Plan

The best plan is the one you will actually complete. Choose a plan that fits your available time, not one that only sounds impressive.

  • New to the Bible? Start with the 7 Day plan, the Beginners plan, or the Gospel of John in 21 Days.
  • Want to read the whole Bible? The Bible in a Year is the most popular choice. The Two or Three Year plans are gentler if life is busy.
  • Short on time? Proverbs in 31 Days or the 7 Day plan take just a few minutes a day.
  • Going through a hard season? The Anxiety and Peace plan or the Forgiveness plan offer targeted comfort.
  • Want depth? The Chronological plan, the Prophecy study, or the 90 Day Challenge reward experienced readers.
  • Not sure? Use the generator to build a plan around your start date and daily time.

Tips for Staying Consistent

  • Choose a realistic pace. A plan you complete slowly is better than one you abandon quickly.
  • Do not quit because you missed a day. Continue from where you stopped.
  • Pray before you read. Ask God to speak through what you are about to read.
  • Keep your Bible accessible. The easier it is to reach, the more likely you are to read.
  • Focus on meeting God, not finishing a schedule. The goal is transformation, not completion.
  • Use rest days to catch up. Do not let one missed day become a week of guilt.
