A New Year: Rise with Purpose and Spirit

đź‘‹ Hello,

Happy New Year!

“And God said, Let there be lights in the firmament of heaven to divide the day from the night; and let them be for signs, and for seasons, and for days, and years.”
— Genesis 1:14

God did not create time in vain. He established light, days, and seasons by His wisdom. He gave the sons of men understanding to interpret His creative work and to capture it in clocks and calendars.

Every year, every month, every day is truly new—and each one carries hope.

Hope to get things right.
Hope to do better.

If you are in the same place today as you were yesterday, you are subtly backsliding.

Each day of this year, as you wake up, rise from your bed with these words in your heart and on your lips:

“Today is the day that the Lord has made; I will rejoice and be glad in it.”
— Psalm 118:24

This year is not just another year.
It is a God-given season—a time appointed for total surrender to Jesus, growth, and fruitfulness.

Why Many Begin the Year Defeated

Yet many people start the year already defeated.

  • Fear paralyzes
  • Past failures haunt
  • Some fear failing again
  • Some fear trying at all
  • Others have accepted sameness as their portion

Do not be that person.

The truth is simple: you will not succeed by human effort alone. You will need to be Spirit-assisted.

“Not by might, nor by power, but by my Spirit, saith the LORD of hosts.”
— Zechariah 4:6

Daniel did not excel because he chased success.
Bezalel did not create by striving.
Samson was not strong because of physical muscles.
David did not defeat Goliath because of stone-throwing skill.

Even our Lord Jesus did not walk in victory merely because He was born of the Virgin Mary. Scripture records that all true success is born of the Spirit of God.

“It is not in man who walks to direct his steps.”
— Jeremiah 10:23

Let this Scripture make you wise this year.

This year will not change by wishful thinking.
It will change as you:

  • Yield to the light God has given
  • Refuse mediocrity
  • Make your temple a comfortable dwelling for the Spirit of God

What Comes Next

Next Friday, we will confront why most believers remain stagnant.

By the grace of God, Breakthrough Bread cannot leave you where it meets you.

This year belongs to God.

Will you live it, or waste it?

Next week, we resume Breakthrough Bread proper.

Happy New Year!
